Formulas Using One Cell
I am new to Excel, so please bear with me as I explain my problem.
I am trying to create a cell that will automatically divide the number that I input by two. I know that if I enter "=A2/B2" in cell C, it will give me the answer. However, I need this number to be in cell A, rather then C. What I'm doing is copy and pasting a report from one program into Excel. The first meathod "=A2/B2" will not work as it will mess with the sequence of the copy and paste command. Basically I need to copy and past from the report, and have Excel divide cell "A" by two automatically. Is there ANY way to do this? Thanks in advance! |

Is this something you will be doing often or a one time kind of copy and
paste? coule you create a column to the right of the last column of your data (lets say your data ends at column G, use column H and put the formula =A2/2, copy that formula down. Then you could copy, paste special....values back into column A. or if it is possible use a column to the right to input your number (lets say H2) and then in A2 put the formula =H2/2 "Rob Klaus" wrote: I am new to Excel, so please bear with me as I explain my problem. It is not very clear to me what you want to do, but perhaps the following will be useful. Copy-and-paste the desired cells; put the number 2 into any cell and copy the cell; then select the pasted cells and right-click Paste Special Divide. |
