Excel often loses its End of File marker so that using Cntl PageDown or
CntlEnd does not go to the last cell in the file. Is there a way to reset
this?

Yes there is. Let's say that your actual data is A1:G100. Click on the row
number 101. The row number, not a cell. Do Ctrl - Shift - Down arrow.
This selects all the rows from row 101 down. Click on Edit - Delete.
Now click on the column letter H. Do Ctrl - Shift - Right arrow. Click on
Edit - Delete.
Now you MUST save the file. Now check Ctrl - End and see where it goes. On
some versions of Excel it may be necessary to save the file, close the file,
open the file. HTH Otto

You can reset the used range manually as Otto has pointed out or you can use a
macro.
