Default SUMIF finds data when Criteria is blank

When using the SUMIF formula and referencing the Criteria to a blank
cell, a result is still returned? I would have thought that it would
have given me an N/A or REF

However, this value is not in the Sum Range - does anyone know what it
is?

What formula are you using, and what does the data look like?

Make sure that the cell is blank, not spaces.

Not 100% clear here. you have a column of data, some cells have numbers and
some cells are blank. You do a sumif only the blank cells. In my little
test I got a result of 0 as expected when I did that.
