Using replace box to change a character into a CR (Alt-Enter char)

How do I use the edit/replace menu to replace some character with alt-enter
character? Trying to do this in Excel 2003.

Select your range
edit|replace
what: (your special character)
with: ctrl-j (hit and hold the control key and hit the j key)
replace all

ctrl-j is the same as hitting and holding the alt-key and typing 0010 on the
numeric keypad.
