I want to set up a footer that is used as the default for all new worksheets
/ workbooks.

How do I set up a default footer to be used in all Excel sheets

Set it up in an empty worksheet. Save the one-sheet workbook as a template -
then give it the name sheet.xlt and store it in the xlstart directory. Do it
again for a 3-sheet workbook (for the default "book"), creating the same
footer for each sheet (using group mode you can do it for one sheet &
they'll all get the same footer), then again save it as a template, give it
the name book.xlt & store in the xlstart directory. Close these both, and
from now on (until you delete these files) new workbooks & sheets will have
the footer.
