external web query? (sites that require login)
im trying to pull data from a pay site. I am a member to this site, have username and password etc etc. but whenever i try to pull the web query it gives the error "the web query returned no data" is there a way to implement my u/p into excel so that it automatically logs me into the site so that it can retrieve the data? (the site is investools) -- JustinB ------------------------------------------------------------------------ JustinB's Profile: http://www.excelforum.com/member.php...o&userid=34886 View this thread: http://www.excelforum.com/showthread...hreadid=546293 |
external web query? (sites that require login)
Ok I am getting somewhere now! In fact I think i have it figured out as far as retrieving data from investools. Instead of just copying the table that i wanted the data from, I have to copy the entire page. No big deal there, but it does bring me to my question for you: One thing I can not seem to discover a workaround is how you are able to define the parameter for each query to be the symbol referenced in another tab of the spreadsheet. I see how you were able to click parameters and choose the option to reference cell b1, however I can not click parameters, the option is grey'd out. Any idea why? -- JustinB ------------------------------------------------------------------------ JustinB's Profile: http://www.excelforum.com/member.php...o&userid=34886 View this thread: http://www.excelforum.com/showthread...hreadid=546293 |
