Creating a 4-step filter
Hi
I am trying to work out how to creat a 4 step filter. In box 1, I select a location, then in box 2, I want to be able to select floors that only relate to the location selected, then in box 3 I want to select departments that relate to the floor and location, etc..... until I have 4 stages of information I have found how to do the 2 stage but cannot see how to continually filter this between all the data I have. Any help would be great |
Creating a 4-step filter
Hi
Have you had a look he http://www.contextures.com/xlDataVal02.html It only shows two fropdowns but having had a look at the logic, I can;t see any reason why it can't be increased beyond that. I'm going to try it just to see if it can work! Hope this helps. Andy. "Auntsally" wrote in message ... Hi I am trying to work out how to creat a 4 step filter. You can filter on as many criteria as you have columns:
Make sure you have header cells on top of the columns, select on and pull-down: Data Filter AutoFilter -- Gary's Student "Auntsally" wrote: Hi I am trying to work out how to creat a 4 step filter. Creating a 4-step filter
Hi
I've been on there and i've just tried it again but for some reason it wont filter out information between each location. I set the filter for location birmingham, then i tested it and 2 things were wrong: It let me pick filter 3 before going through 1 and 2, and also, it let me pick the birmingham location filters for other locations. Oh my im so confused!!!! You need to make sure that each list is named the same as the option in the
previous list. Also, if you want 4 dropdowns, you'll need 4x3x2x1 lists to cover all eventualities. Mine worked OK. I'll send you a copy if you like. Andy. "Auntsally" wrote in message ...
