I am new here so please be gentle!

I am a self taught Excel user and have what will be a pretty
question but here goes:

The only way my number entry will show in the cells is as though it
were a dollar amount - example:

I enter 2 and it shows 0.02 in the cell. How can I get this to change?
I have looked and tried tons of things and just get my workbook all
messed up.

Thank you for any help you can give me.

<Tools <Options <Edit tab,
And *UNCHECK*
"Fixed Decimal"

As to WHY and/or HOW it happened:
This option (fixed decimal), *as well as* the (manual - auto) calculate
option are determined per session, by the saved option of the *first* file
opened in that session.
