Multiple Excel versions.
Hi,
I've got Excel 5.0 and Excel 2000 on a box with Windows 2000 OS(we are upgrading from Excel 5 to Excel 2000). I've disable Excel 5.0 by renaming the Excel executable. Then I'm running "Excel.exe /regserver" to make Excel 2000 default. Everything seems to be fine untill here. However, I've notice that when I open an excel spread sheet that was created using Excel 5.0, the file associations for Excel have been changed. I've re-run "Excel.exe /regserver" and opened the same excel spread sheet to reproduce the problem, but this time file associations for Excel haven't been touched. I've noticed that this is happening only first time when I open a spread sheet that had been created using Excel 5.0. I can't figureout what is triggering the change in Excel file associations. Can any one has come across this sort of situation? Am I missing anything in the process of making Excel 2000 default? Please let me know. Cheers, Naveen. |
