Default digit in a cell

Each time I enter a numeric, like "1" or "2". The cell defaults to "0.001"
and "0.002" and so on. Until I type "100" returns "1". Please advise me how
to restore to true number exactly what I type? Thanks.

Tools==Options==Edit and deselect "Fixed Decimal places"
