File not opening

I was working with a file, due to electricity breakdown computer
shutdown. when I restarted and opened that file it gave message:
"file name" cannot be accessed. The file may be read only, or you may
be trying to access read only location. Or the server the document is
stored on may not be responding.

file is saved on my computer.

how can I open this file.

File not opening

Try this first (from Debra Dalgleish's site):
http://www.contextures.com/xlfaqApp.html#ReadOnly

If that doesn't work...

It sounds like your file got corrupted.

For future use...

If you're using xl2002+, turn on autorecovery. Tools|options|save tab

If you're using xl2k or below, get a copy of Jan Karel Pieterse's addin called
AutoSafe. (It actually works with any version.)

http://www.jkp-ads.com/Download.htm
(look for AutoSafe.zip, not autosafeVBE.zip, for your purposes.)

Jan Karel's version will know if there was a crash and prompt you to open the
last version it saved.

For your current dilemma:

Lots of people have praised OpenOffice.org for saving their data and code.
http://www.openoffice.org, a 60-104 meg download or a CD

There are commercial recovery services. I've never used it, but you might want
to check into:
http://www.officerecovery.com

And sometimes newer versions of excel can open files that older versions can't.
(And sometimes just different versions may work, too!)
