This sounds like the results produced by the old 'Stoned' virus, is your virus scanning up to date? -- Wrote: Disc was working fine...now says unable to open...maybe read-only..etc...Will not open in read only, will not print.....HELP! -- Bryan Hessey ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Bryan Hessey's Profile: http://www.excelforum.com/member.php...o&userid=21059 View this thread: http://www.excelforum.com/showthread...hreadid=540114 |

Yes it was being used on a networked multi-layered protected computer when it
happened "Bryan Hessey" wrote: This sounds like the results produced by the old 'Stoned' virus, is your virus scanning up to date? -- Wrote: Disc was working fine...now says unable to open...maybe read-only..etc...Will not open in read only, will not print.....HELP! -- Bryan Hessey ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Bryan Hessey's Profile: http://www.excelforum.com/member.php...o&userid=21059 View this thread: http://www.excelforum.com/showthread...hreadid=540114 |

You should never edit a workbook that is saved on a floppy disk. Always copy
it to the local hard drive first using Windows Explorer. What happens is when the file is saved, Excel makes a file on the disk with the new workbook, then deletes the old one. If the file gets to be half the floppy's capacity, you get read-only/unable to open/memory errors. - Jon ------- Jon Peltier, Microsoft Excel MVP Peltier Technical Services Tutorials and Custom Solutions http://PeltierTech.com/ _______ " wrote in message ...
