Semi-hang in XL2002
 

I have the latest Excel 2002 SP3. My problem is a very strange semi-hangs in
Excel - and nothing else. The rest of Office has no trouble.

For a while, up to sometimes 45 minutes or even longer, I am able to use
XL2002 just fine to create or modify a simple spreadsheet. Then, without
warning of any kind, the screen refresh goes nuts, and some of the menus
will open but not close. These two all seem to happen at the same time, but
I can't be sure since things are crippled. Sometimes the data area of XL
simply disappears and I see my desktop instead; the top menu stuff is okay,
and the bottom bars are fine.

Sometimes, just paging up or down will fix the problem. Other times, I have
to shutdown XL; in this case, XL starts and runs fine - for another short or
long time. Yes, I'm saving the file very frequently!

Reinstalling XL over-the-top has not helped. I haven't yet unistalled XL and
then reinstalled XL afresh; that's the next step.

But what's going on here? This is the strangest thing I've seen in a very
long time. Your thoughts are appreciated.
