Data Validation Message
Hi Marcus,
Experience with such messages or not you should enter the entire message into a Google Groups search to see what you find. At least give the entire\ message so someone can look up the message for you, and they are probably going to have to look it up just like you would have to. BTW that means the exact text including punctuation. More information on Data Validation in general at http://www.contextures.com/tiptech.html and if you really don't know how to use a Google Groups search see http://www.mvps.org/dmcritchie/excel/xlnews.htm --- HTH, David McRitchie, Microsoft MVP - Excel [site changed Nov. 2001] My Excel Pages: http://www.mvps.org/dmcritchie/excel/excel.htm Search Page: http://www.mvps.org/dmcritchie/excel/search.htm "Marcus" wrote in message ... If you mean the "Input Message" and "Error Alert" tabs in the data validation dialog box, there's info in Excel's built-in Help under "Designate valid cell entries." |

Yes I am talking about the "Inout Message". The questions I have is if there
is more than one message for different cells, and the sheet is locked why wont it change messages when you click a different cell? read the information already supplied.
When you use validation you must correct the error. The choice was made when you decided what is valid or not for the validation. There are default messages and message that you can create yourself. Some more information on validation in http://www.mvps.org/dmcritchie/excel/validation.htm but Debra has several pages on validation at contextures.com including the specific page she referenced.which is more directed to the building of a validation and indirectly for the answer to your question. If you want to abort the entry try using Cancel button on the dialog or the Esc key. In an earlier part of the thread: If you don't know what I mean about Google Groups, you should read about search engines and Google web searches and Google Groups. The Newsgroup should not be your primary source of information, because practically every question that has been asked has been answered numerous times year in and year out, and you could find most answers or at least get a better handle on the question and answer by doing a search. Web pages have a lot more information than someone can answer in a newsgroup thread. --- HTH, David McRitchie, Microsoft MVP - Excel [site changed Nov. 2001] My Excel Pages: http://www.mvps.org/dmcritchie/excel/excel.htm Search Page: http://www.mvps.org/dmcritchie/excel/search.htm "Marcus" wrote in message ...
