How do I get new excel docs to work on old excel prog.?

I am using an older office/excel program on my laptop. I am using
office/excel xp on my desktop. How do I convert the xp excel file to the
older excel file to view on laptop?

How do I get new excel docs to work on old excel prog.?

Do a Save As and in the File type box, select the version of Excel that is on
the laptop. Hope this helps.
