I am not using Excel 1997 from many years. However, you can use this trick if
nothing works. You can use Character Map from Start - Program - Accessories - System Tools. You must know some basic that the characters you will see in CM are depends on the Fonts. You can change the Font and can select the symbol as required. Select the Symbols - Click Select - Click Copy Open Excel - Click Paste Furthermore, you can use shortcuts. For example, if you want to use this symbol in Excel "©". In Character Map - Times New Roman has been used to pick this symbol. What you have to do is remembering the Code of this symbol which is ALT+0169 for Times New Roman font. Just open Microsoft Excel and press ALT+0169 for ©. This code can generate different symbols for different fonts. Let us know, if information is useful to you. "Alice In Wonderland" wrote: In Excel 2003 you canjust do an insert symbol. The "WingDings3" font has a profuse amount of up and down arrows, depending
on the exact style you're looking for. Format the cell(s) (rows, columns) you're looking to use to WingDings 3. Then, the *easiest* is 0104 and 0105, which can be attained by simply typing a lower case " h " and a lower case " i ". Other style *up* arrows a 0143, 0163, 0183, 0187, 0191, 0199, 0211, 0219, 0227 For *down* arrows, just increase the above codes by 1. -- HTH, RD --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please keep all correspondence within the NewsGroup, so all may benefit ! --------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Alice In Wonderland" wrote in message ...
