How to do a numercial sort?
Hi all,
I've got a column in a sheet that I'm trying to sort numerically but excel will only sort it alphabetically, eg. 900 90 890 800 7 65... I've tried formatting the cells as 'number' but this makes no difference. The excel help says to convert text cells to number cells to click the cells 'marked with an error indicator'. None of the cells have an error indicator! What am I missing? |

Sean
Data previously formatted a text is difficult to convert back to numbers by simply changing the format. To do this en masse, enter a 1 in a spare cell and copy it. Highlight the stubborn cells and select editpaste special...values+multiply Now they will sort fine -- HTH Nick Hodge Microsoft MVP - Excel Southampton, England www.nickhodge.co.uk HIS "Sean S" wrote in message ...
