Excel won't open files from within itself.
Hello;
I am using Windows XP and I am also having this same problem with Excel 2000 (and also Word 2000). When I try to open an Excel file from within the program and the Open dialog box opens - when I click on the down arrow which is suppose to open the drop down box to display the various files, the down arrow does not operate and the drop down box does not open - nothing happens. When I go to close Excel by clicking on the X button in the upper right corner of the screen the hour glass then appears and Excel hangs and does not respond. When I browse to an Excel file from My Computer or Windows Explorer and click on the file, Excel opens and so does the Excel file. This same issue occurs with Word 2000 when I try to open Word files. Both Word and EXcel was able to open files from within the programs until Time Warner installed RoadRunner on my machine 2 weeks ago. They didn't install any software - they only changed the IP address to work with RoadRunner. Does any one have an idea what the problem is? Have a great week! -- Regards, Bill Artman "Doug Kanter" wrote: "Mike m" <Mike wrote in message ... When I open excel and then try to open an excel file from the pull down it won't respond. Separate question: What happens if you use File, Open, and choose a file from what you see in that folder? |
