Excel should allow data entry using the pen on tablet PCs

I have just started using a tablet PC and very much appreciate the mobility.
One small issue, however: I an unable to input data into Excel spreadsheets
using the pen. Given that Excel allows "inking" comments it is clear that my
installed Excel spreadsheet recognizes that I am using a tablet PC. Any ideas?

Are you saying that Excel should recognize "written" characters?

Yes, and One another cool things about the Tablet PC environment is that you can use its handwriting recognition feature to be able to enter data into the fields of about any application using your pen rather than a keyboard.
