How can I Excel to re-size when wrapping text in merged cells

How can I get MS Excel to automatically re-size the height of the row when I
wrap text in merged cells?

Frank Kabel

Hi
you can't. That is one of the drawbacks of using merged cells

Jim Rech wrote a macro called AutoFitMergedCellRowHeight that you may like:

If you're new to macros, you may want to read David McRitchie's intro at:

I have a spreadsheet that has 2 columns with "Wrap Text" on and the rest off.
The rows that have multiple lines in the wrapped-text columns have row
heights that are auto-sized correctly. The rows that have no wrapped text
(single line all the way across) do not. Most (but, oddly, not all) have
extra space above them (the size of the font) that will not close up, no
matter what kind of autofitting you try. None of the cells are merged cells.
This has been happening for years and I've never figured out how to fix it,
short of manually sizing the offending rows.

Any chance you have a hidden column in that row that has a cell that's pretty
tall--either because of wraptext or even larger font?
