Comment box appears many rows away when trying to edit

Very annoying quirk!! (Excel 2002) I've created a slew of comments in a
spreadsheet, and when I go to edit them (using right-click on the cell), the
comment box appears 10 or 20 rows away, off the screen in most cases. So I
have to follow the line down to where the comment is, drag it back next to
the cell it belongs to, then I edit it. The comments display properly when
pointing the mouse at them -- the problem only arises when using right-click
to edit them. Any suggestions on how to stop them from moving?
Thanks.

Try this:

Edit one of your comments
Right-Click the border, and select "Format Comment"
Select the "Properties" tab
Check "Don't move or size with cells"
Click OK
Right-Click the border again, and select "Set AutoShape Defaults"

This should resolve the problem of new comments being moved far away.
However, all existing comments will still probably need to be manually
adjusted.

Thanks for the tip, Elkar. That looks like it should do the trick, though
all the comments are currently set to "Don't move or size with cells" so I'll
try setting them the other way to "Move...". It seems that they would need
to move as I insert additional rows, so that the comment stays aligned with
the row it was originally made for.
