![]() Hello, I am an excel beginner, and need some assistance. I don't excactly know how to explain this so I will to my best. I have info in 20 columns, I want to be able to sort it by any one of those columns and have the info that is next to it stay attached to the column next to it. For example, I have data in row 1 that are in cells A1 and B1 that are related, and row two, in cells A2 and B2 that are related, and so on for A3, B3.... If I wanted to sort by column A, I want the relevant data in B to move according to what was changed in A, and to do the same if I were to sort by B and have A stay attached. How do I do that? I hope that makes sense. Thank You. ~ Jason Gross -- Yupkwondo ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Yupkwondo's Profile: http://www.excelforum.com/member.php...o&userid=26391 View this thread: http://www.excelforum.com/showthread...hreadid=528791 |

![]() ok I guess I didn't explain well... I know how to sort in general. I will try again. I have data in column A B and C if I go across row 1, A is part number, B is Discription, and C is Material the part is made of. so if I want to sort by part number(column A), I need to description and material (columns B & C) to sort with A so that I don't just arrange the part numbers that now do not match there description and material. Does this make any more sense. I would like to be able to sort by any of the Columns, A, B or C, and have the other info stay arranged. Thanks Again. ~ Jason Gross -- Yupkwondo ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Yupkwondo's Profile: http://www.excelforum.com/member.php...o&userid=26391 View this thread: http://www.excelforum.com/showthread...hreadid=528791 |

![]() Jason: I think what you didn't pick up from LewR's post is the comment to select ALL of your data. Example: If your list is in A1:C100, with column headings in row 1: Select A1:C100 <Data<Sort Sort by: Select the column heading you want to sort (I'll assume Part Number) When you click the [OK] button, the Part Number column will sort AND all of the other data will move with its respective part number. Does that help? ![]() Yeah that's what I needed, I guess I wasn't reading it correctly.
