is there a way to give titles to the upper portion of the spreadsheets
(that are listed A, B, C, etc.)? also, the same for the left side (1,
2, 3, etc.)?

Hello:

I don't believe so, but you could fake it. Type the column headings
you want in row 1 starting in column B, accross as far as you want,
then type the row names starting in row 2. Highlight all of row 2
and choose a light gray fill. Do the same with Column A. Set column
width so that headings in Column A can be read, do the same for
the remainding columns. Now click in cell B2 and choose Window/split.
Now go to Tools/Options/View and uncheck the Row and Column Headers.

You should have something that looks very much like what you want.
Of course the headings could not be used in formulas.

Click TOOLS in the menu and select OPTIONS. In the OPTIONS dialog box click
GENERAL and then click the R1C1 check box to display columns with their
associated column number instead of the letter

Is the purpose you want to do this so you can see the row and column
headings on printouts?

If so, select File-Page Setup-Sheet and select the "Row and Column
Headings box. Just remember to reverse this action after printing,
otherwise you'll get it on all your printouts.
