oh boy...
I got a "cannot shift objects off sheet" error message on a worksheet I'm editing. Never saw this before. Tried to search for answer using "Help" - using the phrase (with quotes): "cannot shift objects off sheet" I got No responses to my query AT ALL. Really! Try it yourself (using Excel 2003). The MS response was "No results found on Office Online". Don't you think their search algorithm stinks? Am I alone thinking this? I really (REALLY!) dislike their search function. I managed to access the URL: http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;211769 - this explained the error message, sorta, but it's about getting this error message when you try to hide columns not re-size them (is that relevant?). BUT... (this is the FUN part!) 1) There are no shapes or comments (objects) on this worksheet that I can find 2) Column C which was hidden, resized ('cause I thot it were an Object) will not allow itself to be hidden again, and I get that error message when I try to hide it, AND 3) the info on the above mentioned URL says I should: (use the) "Format menu, click <object name, where <object name is the name of the object, such as "Comment" or "AutoShape". In the Format dialog box, click the Properties tab. Click Move and size with cells, and then click OK. If you want to hide the cell comment again, right-click the cell, and then click Hide Comment. Wonderful! Yeah, but... my Format menu (Excel 2003) only has: Cells, Rows, Column, Sheet, AutoFormat, Conditional Formatting and Style as options. Is there some OTHER Format menu they're talking 'bout? This is getting to me... I will gladly email you a copy of this worksheet iif it helps you analyze it. Please take pity on a confused old man and help me... Thanks.
