I am having trouble formatting data that I got from someone else. I have
done text to column to remove the periods and unwanted numbers in the data. I then needed to use a vlookup to get additional information on the data and can only get NA in the cell where the vlookup is. However if I hit the F2 key and the enter key on the original data, I get the answer in the cell where the vlookup formula is. But doing this is not reasonable as I have about 30,000 lines of data. |

It appears you have text entries that LOOK like numbers. What you did forces
Excel to interpret that cell's entry as a number. To do it on a larger section, find an empty cell and copy it. Now select all those numeric values that Excel is treating as text, and use EdtPaste SpecialAdd This will allow Excel to re-evaluate all those entries en masse "Naomi" wrote: I am having trouble formatting data that I got from someone else.
