Fill Handle
 

Especially with the new 16384 columns in Excel 2007, perhaps you can
impliment the ability like double-clicking the fill handle which now fills
down the appropriate # of rows, perhaps a SHIFT/double-click the fill handle
to fill RIGHT the appropriate # of colulmns.
