I inherited an excel spreadsheet and I cannot see the ABC and 123's of the
column and row headings. They are not hidden, the worksheet is in some type
of view that I cannot figure out how to change.

Try to either unfreeze the panes. Go to Window, then Unfreeze.

Or try to change the column width, and row hight.

Go to Tools + Options + View tab. Make sure "Row & Column Headers" is checked.
