I'm trying to enter a fairly long IF looking at lots of columns, but when the
formula is over 1 line deep I can't see the column letters anymore. i.e. is my data 'type' in column AC/AD/... Is there anyway to move or shrink it so I can see what I'm doing? |

1. Find an un-used cell somewhere with nothing entered in the cells to the
right. 2. Enter your formula there, but without the equal sign 3. Excel will treat it as a long string and you will see all of it 4. When you are satisfied, copy the string to the cell you want the fomula to go 5. Only then enter the equal sign -- Gary's Student "Light" wrote: I'm trying to enter a fairly long IF looking at lots of columns, but when the formula is over 1 line deep I can't see the column letters anymore. i.e. is my data 'type' in column AC/AD/... Open a second window and arrange that such that you can see the headers

If you look at the top right corner of your screen (title bar), you see the
3 icons for minimize, restore, and close ( - X ) Right *under* these is another set of the same icons. Click the restore icon ( ) of this *second* set. -- HTH, RD ================================================== === Please keep all correspondence within the Group, so all may benefit! ================================================== === "Light" wrote in message ... That's a sensible workaround so I still get the help text in the formula bar
at the same time as seeing what I'm doing with the columns. Thanks for the suggestion.
