How I convert date formatt of dd/mm/yy to mm/yy (not cell format)

How I convert date formatt of dd/mm/yy to mm/yy (not cell format) ?
I want to use the histogram option from tool menu (add-in) to count the
frequnty of certen evet in time scale of month (event per month), but my
event are per day so I need to "round" them. If I'm using "cell format in
order to display in mm/yyyy format it's still remember the original format of
dd/mm/yy.

Any Ideas ?

You would have to convert the dates to the same date in a new column
something like assume date is in a2, you could put in b2

=date(year(a2),month(a2),1) would make all the dates in the same month
the same. You could then copy this formula down
