VLOOKUP referencing another workbook

What's wrong with this formula:

=vlookup(I2,[PLLIST.xls]Sheet1!$a$2:$c$500,3,False)

Where I2 is the cell that is being looked up
PLLIST is the workbook where the table is located (in the same directory as
the file I'm working on)
Sheet1 is the sheet in that workbook
The lookup range is a2:C500
The information that I want in my cell is from column 3 in PLLIST, which is
not in numerical order (False)

As best I can tell, the error is in referencing another workbook.

Thanks for any help.

VLOOKUP referencing another workbook

=VLOOKUP(I2,[PLLIST.xls]Sheet1!$A$2:$C$500,3,FALSE) is fine, I have
tested with this excat formula and it worked fine. I can only assume
that the value in I2 does not exactly match the values in column A of
Sheet1 in the workbook PLLIST, are you sure you don't have a space
after the value in either I2 or in column A?

VLOOKUP referencing another workbook

Thank you for finding that! I pulled the information in my worksheet off an
AS400 Query, and it inserted a space in the front of each cell thas I was
searching on. I did a quick find and replace, and it works great! Thanks for
catching it!!
