Paste Special

I am trying to convert whole numbers in a spreadsheet to thousands. I
was told there was a way to use the Paste Special Divide feature? Any
thoughts?

Paste Special

just type 1000 (or whatever you need to do your conversion) en any cell, copy
it, open edit/paste special, and select divide or whatever funcion you like.

I frequently use it to multiply by -1, changing negatives to positives.......
You can also use it to convert numbers in Text format to number format by
multiplying by 1.

Paste Special

Thousands? or Thousandths? If you want to convert 1234 to 1.234 then do this:

In a blank cell, enter 1000.
Copy that cell
Select your range of data to convert
Paste Special selecting "Divide"
Click OK
You may then delete the 1000 you entered earlier

If you do in fact want thousands, then use the same steps except use
"Multiply" instead of divide.

HTH,
Elkar

Paste Special

In a blank cell type 1000, then copy, click on the cell(s) you want to divide
by 1000, then click Edit Paste Special, select Value and Divide.

Jim May

Paste Special

If you mean you have, say 150,000 (in Cell A1)
In a blank cell (somewhere/anywhere) enter 1,000

Then select the cell with the 1,000 value and Ctrl+C
(To Copy it)..

Move your cursor and Click on A1, then at the Menu,
Go to Edit, Paste-Special..., In the Dialog Box under Operation - click on
the DIVIDE (radio button) and OK.

Erase the content of the cell that you originally entered
the 1,000
