Default Text to date format

Hi everyone,

In our system generated .CSV file, one column is the date in the format
of YYYYMMDD, for example 20060301.

I want to format this column to this date format, 3/1/2006, but I
can't. It just gives me a bunch of #'s. I copied the column to another
sheet but got the same result.
