Find does not work in Excel 2003
 

I have created a small worksheet with the following three cells of data.
Excel will only find the number 4400000608 in two of the cells. It does not
recognize that it is also in the large cell. I am most unhappy that Microsoft
want to charge money to REPORT a bug. Oh yes I will get my money back if it
IS a bug. I think I should get like $1000 back if it IS a bug. The number is
NOT found in the large cell, but is clearly present.

BTW, always post at these groups first, before you attempt to get support
via commercial channels.

What formula do you use? What version of Excel? I don't know the details,
but I do know there have been several versions with increasing capacity for
strings.

In my Excel 2003,

=FIND(TEXT(A17,"0"),A19)

finds it at position 1453.

A17 is 4400000608 , A19 is the string of Cell3.

Find does not work in Excel 2003
 

Microsoft Office Excel 2003
I am not using find function, but find box from edit menu with "Find all"
button. It does NOT find it in the large cell. There are no line wraps
in that cell (I know that this format wraps them) and with no wraps,
Excel only finds that string in the first two cells.

I will try your function...
Mine also returns 1453. Interesting.
Many thanks for the education, but it
does not solve my problem. I was trying to find
duplicate UPC strings in cells by having Excel show
me all the cells with that string in it, and then I
would intelligently eliminate all of the duplicates
but one. I could not see writing code to check ALL
the cell in the sheet and then eliminating them one
by one. The find ALL, when it works, is barely convenient.

Perhaps I am missing an easy way to use this find
function to search the entire worksheet and return all
the cells which contain a string?

And, again, many thanks for showing me the find
function. I never used this before.
