Conditional color formatting entries have wild color.
 

Using condtional formating in Excel to create alternating bands of color.

It works great and the bands of color stay inplace during sorts, But when I
enter a new value in a cell it picks up the color of the cell above it. Thus
my green rows will transfer green to a white cell below it.

I have set no color in the color picker...what gives?
Using Office XP and about says that Excel is version 2002.
