Default Worksheet protection

Hello
My situation is this. I use a spreadsheet to receive scheduling information
to update a Microsoft project file. The spreadsheet was created by someone
else and contains some Macros and combo lists.
1. Do I have to 'share' the worksheet to enable others to fill in
information? I would rather not do this as I'm not quite sure how it impacts
the macros in the spreadsheet.
2. How does the Macro security setting impact other user's use of the
spreadsheet.
3. Does not sharing the workbook automatically 'protect' the whole
worksheet. I think it does because when I select 'Tools', 'Protection' and
deselect the 'Protect worksheet and other contents' box, the 'OK' button is
greyed. out.
Help for a basic user much appreciated!
