Protecting Intellectual Property in Distributed Spreadsheets
I have developed an Execl spreadsheet that I use to model and balance a
large and complex system of factors involved with fluid dynamics. It is very application specific to my industry. I would like to license my spreadsheet for use by companies in the industry that need to do this same computation. What is the best way to protect my intellectual property (the spreadsheet formulas) from being copied by companies I distribute the spreadsheet to. Is the Excel cell protection function adequate or is that form of password protection easily thwarted. What do Excel application developers do to distribute and protect their intellectual property? Thank you. |
