how do I combine monthly dates ex: jan 1,2005+jan 1,2006 together.
 

Have 2500 members registered in Jan/Dec 2005 need to mess Jan/Dec 2006
members into one list? They need to be in day (1,2,3,etc) sequence not year
sequence (Jan-2005 then Jan-2006- which is what I am getting..... help, please

how do I combine monthly dates ex: jan 1,2005+jan 1,2006 together.
 

What do you mean by "mess Jan/Dec 2006 members into one list"? Merge them?

With regards to sorting, the easiest way to sort by day of month is to create an
extra column with =day(a1) in it, then sort on that column.

Yes, merge (thinking of lunch) -- but how do I combine years? I inserted a
new column - changed the cell format to 'text' and then typed 1-Jan, etc --
I have to do it for ALL 2500+ but can do each month separately...have done
J/F/M - and it worked but I bet there is a more efficient way of doing it....

There's almost certainly a more efficient way of doing things. And the *last*
thing you should be doing is using text format for your dates. Why not use date
format? It's much easier to work with, especially if you want to extract the day
of the month.

Give us more information on what your data looks like and we'll help you
organize it.
