Default Merging Cells and autofit

I am trying to do a document in Excel, however some cells have multiple
data....

What I am trying to do is put data underneath, such as name and then under
name put position. However, this is in the same cell, so I type in the name
and then press alt+enter to put data underneath....that works perfectly, but
then does not appear in my cell, only the top line does.

How can I "autofit" so that when data is entered, the cell will
automatically resize to show all data? The data is merged over 4 cells in
the same row, but only uses one row.

It's driving me nuts....I am trying to do a flow chart in EXCEL!!!! Which I
have already done in powerpoint, but have been told it has to be done in
excel for some odd reason!!!

Thanks

Just to add that I have formatted the cell and I have selected "wrap text" so
that is not what the problem is

Sorry i missed the part about the merged cells
Try using center across selection in the horizontal
And remove the merged cells check box
See if that helps?

I personally try to avoid merged cells because of these little quirks
