I need to store reference data in one file for any WB to ref
What is the best way to store reference data for my vlookup function. Or is
there a better way to minipulate cells in any workkbook based on a SET OF DATA/SPECS? Right now I use the vlookup function to insert the appropriate hardware into the worksheeet. Originally the vlookup function was referencing a workbook in out file system, our templete worksheet. Problem was every time we opened anouther worksheet useing the vilookup function, it asked us if we still wanted to use the same file. This was kind of anoying. So I placed the vlookup data on the sheet that we are useing the vlookup function on. This work allright. I don't like the redunduncy with this system. It also will cause problems if we need to edit one of the data values. For ease of use I would like to be able to place all of the product specs within a single workbook and on different sheets for different product catagories. One idea is to place all of these on the personal.xls workshhet but I think I will still be quized every time I open a worksheet use the data table if I still want to use the data table. How do I get it to stop asking and how do I get it to not open a bunch of other files to do this? |
