Linking text Data between 2 workbooks
I am trying to retrieve data from one workbook to automatically update into a
second workbook. I have tried to use = in the destination cell and then select the source cell but I get a !VALUE error. Both cells are text data; they are words written out just like I am writing here, and both the source and destination cells are merged cells. I have done this same procedure with numbers and it works fine, but it does not seem to work for text. Any thoughts/ help?? |

You may want to try:
selecting the "sending" cell. edit|copy select the "receiving" cell edit|paste special|paste link Maybe something was wrong with your syntax (difficult to believe if you just typed an equal sign and pointed and hit enter, huh?)
