Sort by Month and Year
 

How can I re-sort month with year in the pivot table.
I have data from Jan 1990 till Dec 2005 which I need to sort.

Pivot table returns data with month with year in Alphabetical order and does
not allow me to re-sort to make it to look like, Jan 1990, Feb 1990 ... Dec
2005

Do you have real dates in that field in the raw data?

If you just have text that looks like a date, then this won't work.

But if you have real dates, you can
rightclick on that field in the pivottable
choose Group and show detail
Group by month and year.

If you get a message back that this field can't be grouped, you have at least
one text cell (or empty cell) in that column in your raw data.
