Locked for editing
Sometimes when I open Excel after it shut down unexpectedly I get the
message: "File in use. Insert visio button.xls is locked for editing". I can only open my files read only. I have the shutdown my system completely to get access to the files again. Does anyone know why this happens and how to solve it? Regards, Lupe |

Lupe, you should first resolve why Excel is crashing on you. Is it one file
or lots that crash it? You can do Excel troubleshooting: http://www.officearticles.com/excel/...soft_excel.htm And/Or you can clean up your hard drive: http://www.officearticles.com/misc/h...hard_drive.htm Meanwhile, however, it sounds like the Visio file in your Excel startup folder is remaining in use. Perhaps Excel isn't closing at all? After it shuts down, hit Ctrl+Alt+Del and go to the processes tab. Is Excel still there? End task on it and you shouldn't have the problem. ************ Hope it helps! Anne Troy www.OfficeArticles.com "Lupe" wrote in message ...
