What is a field name in excel when making a pivot table?
 

i'm trying to make a pivot table from accounting journal entries. a window
pops-up when i click finish saying the field name is not valid. i'm using
excel 2003.

You probably have a blank column header in your selection.

thank u for the reply, i had column headers, the problem was i had unused or
blank cells in my rows, if you've journalized before you know what i mean.
for the accounts you have to stretch one row out to fit all the data, rather
than just one cell overflowing to the next on some accounts. hopefully this
