comparing two columns

I have a spreadsheet in Excel 2000 that has two columns. Basically I
want to find out which of the lesser-number-of-numbers columns has a
matching number in the larger-number-of-numbers column. It would look
like this

A B
-------- --------
1561465 1561465 <
1654345 4564343
1545485 8452154 <
8452154 1454654
1654652 1365145
1546848 8545212
9546531 2584521
6543546 1564654
5452133 2154542
1777754
8959599
9546531 <

Thanks! for anyone's help

comparing two columns

We can use conditional formatting:

say the data are in columns A & B

Select A1 and pull-down Format Conditional Formatting...
Select Formula Is and enter:
=(COUNTIF(B$1:B$65536,A1)0) and select a bright background color
copy this cell and paste/special format down the whole column

then

Select B1 and pull-down Format Conditional Formatting...
Select Formula Is and enter:
=(COUNTIF(A$1:A$65536,B1)0) and select a bright background color
copy this cell and paste/special format down the whole column

All the matches will be hi-lighted
