BARCODING WITH EXCEL USING FONTS ALREADY IN EXCEL

i am trying to set up an inventory in/out system using barcodes and I will
need to purchase a barcode scanner. are there any scanners that can be
programmed to use a font already in the computer?

To print bar codes, you will need a barcode font. There are some available
free on the web if you search.

Just a hint: most barcode readers require you to type an asterisk (*) before
and after the number when you print your barcode label. So, for example item
1234567 would need to print as:
*1234567*

Good luck,

Heidi

Tina,

If you already have a barcode font installed on your system and the
barcodes are created/printed correctly with that font, then you can use
pretty much any scanner to read those barcodes.

When purchasing the scanner, just verify it reads they type of barcode
you are creating. If you use Code 39 or Code 128 barcodes, then 99.9%
of scanners out there will scan that.
