1/4 . the results of the formula from the combined cells is converting the 5 1/4 to 5.25 how do I get the result of the formula to retain the 5 1/4 fraction. I have tried formating the cell but that dosen't seem to work. Using excel 2002 |

Hi Jason
If I enter 5 1/4 in A1, and 2 in B1 in C1=A1+B1 returns 7 1/4 for me, when I format C1 the same as A1. If, however, you were wanting to concatenate this to show, say, 7 1/4 inches, then =C1&" inches" will return 7.25 inches. IF this is your problem, then use =Text(C1,""# ?/?")&" inches" -- Regards Roger Govier "jason2444" wrote in message ... using a formula to combine multiple cells. one of the cells has a fraction 5 1/4 . the results of the formula from the combined cells is converting the 5 1/4 to 5.25 how do I get the result of the formula to retain the 5 1/4 fraction.
