separate data in a table

I have a list of items, example furniture. Each line has item number,
description price.

Is there any way, I can sort or split the table by type of item? Example, is
there a way to move all the lines that have "chair" in the description either
to the top of the list, or to a separate worksheet?

column In the dialog box select "contains" and enter chair.......

Follow up question:

Now that I only have lines that include "chair", is there any way to
renumber the lines?

Not knowing your format specifically, you can redo line numbers individually
in the filtered mode, or you can copy and paste the filtered data to a blank
sheet and then manipulate it at will.....
