I formatted cells in a column of text from "Genera format" to "Text
format" and the information all changed to #####################. Now
I can't seem to get the original text back, I just get the
###############
Can someone tell me how to get the text backl

If the original text appears in the formula bar then changing the cell
format back to General should reset the appear of the cell. If not then the
original entry is gone unless you can use Edit, Undo (or Ctrl-z) a few times
to get it back.

I don't think there is ever a reason to use the Text number format with a
cell containing text.

Generally a string of "pound/number" signs means the cell is too narrow to
display what is entered in it.
Try widening the column
