Name Define
Hi ,
I have a rather long formula which has been given a name. I need to edit it occasionally but when I choose INSERT - NAME - DEFINE and choose the "name" the formula appears in the refer box as expected. However only the first 63 characters can be edited. I cannot scroll along to the remaining characters. At the moment I am having to rewrite the formula again. Anyway around this without resorting to writing the formula into a cell rather than the defined name? Ken |

Ken this is going to sound a bit weird
Highlight it with your mouse. Doing this allows it to slide back and forth across the formula. Once you're in the area you have to edit click to unhighlight and edit the portion you need to. Sounds weird. But when weird works who's gonna argue? "Ken Johnston" wrote: Hi , I have a rather long formula which has been given a name. Make sure you hit that F2 key before you start navigating with your directional arrow keys! If not, you'll be cussing! Biff "Ragdyer" wrote in message ... Very true <bg
If it is a long formula, then I often do the editing in a cell, where it is easier to see the whole formula at once. Once the formula is set as required, Copy and Paste into the "Refers To" box. You won't have an option to Paste from the right click menu, but typing Ctrl+V to paste will work. -- Regards Roger Govier "Biff" wrote in message ... Click in the "Refers To" box, then hit <F2. Hi Ken,
if you use Name Manager (developed by myself and Jan Karel Pieterse) you can see and edit all the characters in the name formula (as long as there are less than about 256 characters). download from http://www.DecisionModels.com/downloads.htm Charles ______________________ Decision Models FastExcel 2.1 now available www.DecisionModels.com "Ken Johnston" wrote in message ...
