Software to download Fixed Width Files

I have a software which is very old (Open VMS, Unix Based). I have to do a
lot of formatting after downloading files from this software to Excel. Is
there a way or a software that i can use to download (Fixed Width Ascii
files) from my software to excel so that i don't have to do any formatting
after downloading???

Thankx!

Software to download Fixed Width Files

If your file is actually a fixed width file - and one record fitting on
one line.
Then copy and past the file into excel - it should all paste into
column A and then use as many rows as required.
Then in excel goto "DATA" then Select "TEXT TO COLUMNS" and follow the
directions.
Also you might ask your VM programmer to have the fields "comma" or
"semi-colon", etc. deliminated and then you can still use the above
procedure.
